About Us

About David

I was born in late 1964 with congenital glaucoma. I am also near-sighted. Quite frankly, that combination sucks. I have had 17 operations on my eyes – including a couple of trabeculectomies, an endothelial transplant, and cataract extraction. Most of the operations were done when I was an infant and toddler, though I’ve had four since 4 December 2008. My left eye is the “good” one. For about 15 years I was able to read the 20/60 line on the eye chart (you know, the DAO6 line.) My right eye was never that great. The best I could do with it was see the 20/400 line – the big E.

I’ve been an entrepreneur my entire life, owning several businesses starting when I was 21 years old in 1986. I owned and operated a video store until 1999. I co-founded Digital Graphics Design in 2004. While that business is still in operation today, its goals have changed over the years. Eliz and I also owned and operated a beauty supply and salon equipment business for eight years or so, beginning in 2006.

Eliz and I have also started affiliate marketing. We’ve got several sites currently in development (including this one,) along with www.BestWheelchair.org, www.PersonalLoansPDQ.com, www.budgetsalonequipment.com, www.CashQwik.com, and www.bestbbqgasgrills.com.

About The Show

What’s the show about? The short answer is blind people for dummies. I talk about some of the things sighted people do when interacting with me. My favorite thing, by the way, is when I ask where something is and the person I’m asking says, “It’s right over there.” I’m guessing that most times, the person is also pointing. I also talk about how I am able to accomplish things, just like sighted people. Yup, I can get on the train, travel into Philadelphia, walk to Starbucks for breakfast, and then walk to the building my meeting is in, just like you. And that is the bottom line and the basis for the show. Blind people can do things independently and they shouldn’t be underestimated or marginalized simply because they are blind.
